Exercise in
Formal Academic Writing

Rewrite each of the sentences using more formal or more objective expressions.

• Managing an elementary classroom is tough, but it can be done.
 
• Some of them start to cry, laugh, and talk a lot.
 
• If you are obese, you can reduce weight by exercising regularly.
 
• We are currently conducting research into this problem.
 
• The problem of the Cambodian refugees is very important to us all and we must help
 
• Personally, I think women shouldn't drink excessively at all, after all it is for their own sake.
 
• You should write research papers in the third person.
