When I enter the park, I walk by Kamokamo Kawa, literally, Duck Duck River, but actually a stream. It's true to its name since ducks can be seen there all year 'round.
These girls were picking berries by the stream one day in August.
In Nakajima Park, there's a good-sized lake (actually called Shobu Pond), where people can go boating in warm weather. Nakajima means "middle island," and there are a couple of small islands in the lake accessible only to small flying and swimming creatures.
My daily walk takes me around the lake at various times of day and in all kinds of weather. It's lovely watching the differences in scenery, not just every season but almost on a daily basis.
