The number of sites with e-cards is multiplying daily.
Here are some tips on finding a good greeting card site:
- Easy to access and loads quickly but with a variety of categories
- Simple to fill in the information including choices of greetings or ability to write your own
- Ability to use HTML in sending messages
- Choice of music selections
- Choice of background colors and designs and "extras" such as stamps
- Ability to preview the card and make changes easily
- Ability to send the same card to multiple recipients, simultaneously or sequentially
- Avoidance of Java or software that must be downloaded by the receiver
- Possibility for saving favorites and viewing cards sent in the past
- Personal address book
- Notification upon receipt of card
- Ability to send the card on a designated date
The following are some of my favorite e-card sites:
- Care-Mail
A place to send free greeting cards that help save wildlife. Numerous categories of cards from AIDS Awareness to Ungulates. Unique cards that show live cam photos of animals updated every few seconds or minutes. Once you sign up for log-in-name and password, you can save your favorite cards as well as making an address book and several other options. When you send your card, you may be asked to sign an optional petition regarding some world crisis.
- E-Cards: Card Categories
Lovely photographs and artwork featuring flora, fauna, and endangered species. Selections can be made by regions of the world and help support the World Wildlife Fund!. Check out the delightful animated humorous cards.

Care2 is working with Mercy Corps to raise desperately needed funds to help the victims of the massive earthquake and horrible tragedy in Southeast Asia. As the death toll continues to climb, aid organizations are mounting what will be the largest and most complicated relief effort in history.
Mercy Corps' emergency team is on the ground, assessing damage and beginning a lifesaving response. They've started rushing shelter materials and other essential items to children and families who survived the earthquake. In the critical days ahead, Mercy Corps staffwill work with local governments and other organizations to ensure that the greatest needs are being met.
Mercy Corps has the experience and expertise to effectively and efficiently respond to this disaster. They have operated in many areas of Southeast Asia for many years. They were the first U.S. agency to respond to the devastating earthquake in Bam, Iran in December, 2003. This year, they served over 6 million people in 35 countries.
Today, Mercy Corps need your generous, timely donations to help the thousands of survivors who will need shelter, food and medicine. Please give what you can now:

- Action Cats
Since I now have two cats, this FREE site for animated cards has become a favorite. There are also cards for dogs, rabbits, horses, turtles, fish, hamsters, birds... as well as for wild animals. The place on the site I like the best is a cat's guide to handling stress and change. The site has links to Animal Welfare Sites and many more sites concerned with the care and health of cats.
- Jacquie Lawson
The annual subscription is well worth the price of these whimsical animated cards. The selection is limited, but continuously growing and updated. Most include or even feature Jacquie's "Chocolate Labrador x Springer Spaniel," Chudleigh. The cards are accompanied by either classical or original music.
- Spirit Cards
The free cards on this site have original designs and poems by artists with spiritual backgrounds. The animated cards, in particular, "are designed to lift your spirit and create warmth in your heart."
- Blue Mountain Arts
According to Time magazine, the most popular site for electronic greeting cards. By subscription only, the site features monthly holidays, ones that you may never have heard of. Talking e-cards with your own voice are now among the options.
- Cyber Greetings
Somewhat saccharin site with unusual cards including angel greetings, a snowball fight, hugs, tickles, smooches, and so on. Most are accompanied by a sentimental poem. Recommended: Donkey!
